Kinematics¶
With the help of the kinematics functions, a wide variety of lever systems, e.g. gripper movements or pendulum movements, can be simulated in ELITECAD. It is also possible to map cams and cam discs and show their motion sequences. Systems with cylinder drives (hydraulics, pneumatics) can also be simulated and optimised with these kinematic functions. Another functionality is the determination of envelope curves. Here every defined position of the movement system is shown and this results in the minimum area that is necessary to allow for the movement. This representation supports the designer in the design of covers and housings that are intended to enclose such movement systems.
With ELITECAD and the support of these kinematic functions, such movement systems are checked for their practical suitability without additional trial costs.
Requirements¶
A lever system with the following requirements must be designed before the function is called up:
- Each moving component must be a separate object (model).
- Each object must have drawn a circle with any radius at its rotation points.
- A maximum of 14 components can be moved.
- Each component (lever) can have up to 6 rotation points.
- A guide contour must be created as a separate object.
If these requirements are met, the lever system can be designated.

With the DELETE DEFINITION function, a previously assigned definition can be deleted from an individual element.
With the function DELETE ALL KINEMATIC DEFINITIONS, all definitions of an already defined kinematics system can be deleted.
