Using Luna AI¶

| Ctrl + Shift + l |
Learn how to configure Luna, manage permissions, and get the best results from your AI assistant.

Start a conversation with Luna¶

– Starts a new conversation. A newly started conversation is a “clean slate”; all information from previous conversations is forgotten.
– Opens the settings menu for Luna.
– Opens the important notes regarding data protection and security. This is the same document that needs to be confirmed prior to being able to utilise Luna.
– Saves a copy of the current conversation that can be later imported using the
. This is useful if you wish to preserve the conversation before starting a new one or performing an action that would reset Luna.
Tip
It is advisable to create an easy-to-find folder specifically for saved conversations as the location can be freely chosen and searched later for the upload. It is possible to have a standard conversation starter that you always upload at the beginning so that the conversation already contains any important data about you or your company that may be important for your interactions. This file can always be added to when new ideas arise.
Configure Luna AI settings¶
Provider¶

The underlying LLM can be selected here. (For the test phase, this is not able to be selected and is greyed out.)
Model version¶
If the above selected provider offers access to multiple versions, this can be selected here. (For the test phase, OpenAI's GPT-5.4 is the only option and is, therefore; greyed out.)
Image detail¶
This defines the quality of images uploaded, having a direct effect on how exactly Luna will be able to read the images or screenshots it takes itself for assessment. High uses more tokens but provides greater accuracy and low uses fewer tokens but may produce less accurate results. Automatic allows Luna to determine the appropriate level of image analysis based on the request.
Reasoning effort¶
This defines how much and how long Luna considers a task/question prior to responding. This is set to high by default as this provides a very reasoned response but still saves tokens from the maximal setting. For simpler tasks, this can be reduced to save tokens and time without sacrificing quality. Complex tasks generally benefit from a higher setting, as additional reasoning can reduce the likelihood of errors.
This is a tool that sets Luna apart from other AI tools. Reasoning is a process of critical analysis that requires a longer processing time in order to ensure the quality of the results. Luna has been equipped with a wealth of information and knowledge sources to have much of what is required for this process at hand and thereby minimize the processing time.
Despite all precautions and care, Luna, as with all AIs currently, may still make mistakes or have hallucinations. Please therefore always check AI responses and, particularly for important topics or complex tasks, critically review the AI’s result.
Manage privacy and permissions¶
– When active, Luna has permission to consult the Help center. When inactive, it saves tokens but will not have direct access to vital information concerning ELITECAD.
Luna does not have general internet access and cannot retrieve information from third-party websites.
– when activated, this shows the tokens used per request to help manage token usage. When the mouse hovers over this, more token information is available.

Request – tokens used for this interaction
Total usage – total tokens used in this calendar month
Quota – remaining tokens available for the current month
The colour of this info bubble is also a quick visual indication of the monthly token status. It uses a traffic light system.
Green – indicates > 50% of tokens remain.
Yellow – indicates 25-50% of tokens remain.
Red – indicates < 25% of tokens remain.

When deactivated, all of this is hidden.
– when activated, gives Luna permission to create/edit images.
Image generation quality – allows for a selection of how detailed the images should be created. As described in previous section the higher the quality the more tokens will be used to create the images.
Luna can make images based on the current view, a specific camera or named elements. Modifications to the last-generated image are also possible.
Privacy¶

These checkboxes control whether permission requests are granted automatically for the selected AI provider.
They are disabled by default and when an action requires an applicable permission, a permission request will appear offering to either open the ELITECAD function needed or send the related attached data to the AI Provider selected.
The prompt allows you to choose between allowing the permission just once, allowing this type of request always (this selection will place a checkmark for the automated permission) or denying this permission.

AI Chat Assistant output¶
This is where the entire conversation takes place. The chat is also colour-coded.
- User input messages have a blue-grey background.
- Luna's thinking process is on a yellow background. This can be hidden or shown again using the
/
toggle. - Any websites used are displayed with a blue background.
- Any functions Luna considers using are displayed with a green background.
- Luna's replies have a light grey background.
Note
When a request takes more than 5 minutes for Luna to reply to, an suggestion to cancel the request appears. You can choose either to wait or to cancel the request. This usually only happens when a request is very complex.
Input bar for the AI chat¶

– Allows for the import of data. This includes previously saved conversations, still images/snapshot or text documents. It is not currently possible to upload ELITECAD drawings.
Text field - is where it says "Ask me something..." and this is where you write your messages, replies and any other communication with Luna.
It is possible to scroll through previous prompts by clicking in this field and while holding the Shift key using the Up and Down keys.
– Sends your message. Pressing Enter will also send the message.
– Stops the current request. This only appears while Luna is thinking. This still uses some tokens but if you have stopped a larger request, it will only subtract the tokens that were used up to that point and those needed for the cancellation.
This is the only button that will work while Luna is thinking, all others are inactive until Luna either provides and answer or finishes cancelling the request.
Getting more out of your AI assistant¶
Communicating with Luna¶
Treat Luna like a knowledgeable assistant rather than a search engine. The clearer and more specific your request, the better the result is likely to be. Describe what you want to achieve, provide any relevant details, and explain the desired outcome. If Luna's response is not exactly what you need, ask follow-up questions, provide additional information, refine your request or request specific changes. Conversations are intended to be interactive, and in many cases, the best results are achieved through a short back-and-forth discussion.
Tip - Working with Luna effectively
Luna works best when given clear objectives and relevant context.
Instead of:
- Check this.
Try:
- Review this floor plan for accessibility concerns and suggest improvements.
Instead of:
- Make a rendering.
Try:
- Create a rendering prompt for a late-afternoon exterior visualisation that highlights the balconies and timber cladding.
Follow-up questions are encouraged. In many cases the best results are achieved through a short conversation rather than a single request.
Practical use examples¶
Luna can assist with a wide range of tasks, from reviewing models and finding objects to generating reports and navigating projects. The examples below illustrate different ways you can interact with Luna and showcase some of its capabilities. There is no single "correct" way to work with Luna. Every project, workflow and user is different, so the most effective prompts and conversations will vary accordingly.
Object selection
- Select all windows with a width of 120 cm.
- Select all windows on this floor.
- Select every door with the ______ door type.
- Select all elements that use ______ material.
Editing object parameters
- Increase the height of all exterior walls by 20 cm.
- How do I set the roof pitch to 35 degrees.
- Change the upper height of the selected free slab to 25 cm.
Luna can modify object parameters but cannot directly edit drawn geometry. For example, it can change a wall's thickness or material, but it cannot stretch a wall to a new length or redraw its shape.
Quality assurance
Review a model
- Look for anything in this model that appears unusual or inconsistent.
- Review this project before a planning submission. What questions would you ask?
- Check this model for common architectural drafting or modelling mistakes.
- Review this project from the perspective of an accessibility consultant.
