Overview

Tractrix curve is an optional module for ELITECAD.

The tractrix curve models the driving patterns of vehicles, specifically the required space when navigating a curve. The driving motion is simulated along a predetermined route referred to as a guide line. In ELITECAD, these guide lines may comprise of a sequence of consecutive straight and arching elements (polygons).
The dimensions (master data), that are used for the vehicles available for the simulations, are in stored in the def-files.

FGSV 2020

With the ELITECAD tractrix module, vehicle definitions for the following 13 standard design vehicles established according to the guidelines of the Research Association for Roads and Transportation (FGSV) in 2020 are provided in the FGSV 2020 register:

Passenger vehicle 2010 and Passenger vehicle - Most commonly registered in 2010 have larger dimensions than the reference vehicle Passenger vehicle from the FGSV tab. With these cars, the fact that the average dimensions of the car fleet are becoming increasingly larger is taken into account. The dimensions for these vehicles were taken from the research report of the Westsächsische Hochschule Zwickau University of Applied Sciences "Bestimmung der aktuellen Abmessungen differenzierter Personen-Bemessungsfahrzeuge" (Translation: "Determination of the current dimensions of differentiated passenger-reference vehicles") by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Schuster, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Josef Sattler und Dr.-Ing. Stephan Hoffmann, April 2011. The geometric characteristics of the "Passenger vehicle - Most commonly registered in 2010" may have been influenced by an environmental bonus granted in 2009/2010. Due to the fact that vehicles in the small passenger vehicle and compact classes were primarily purchased/registered, the geometric characteristics of this reference vehicle may tend to be too small.
The tab User vehicles is for vehicle definition files that were created by the user. Normally, the user created vehicles should be available under ..\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\geoschlepp\User vehicles.
